This district is situated on the northeast side of the city, and thanks to Piazzale Roma links Venice to the mainland. The whole area went under many demolitions and transformation over the years, such as the destruction in 1810 of the church and the monastery of Santa Croce, from which it takes its name. In this area there are the Papadopoli Gardens, inspired by English gardens, designed by Bagnara, today are one of the main public gardens of the city, but totally changed from the original project.
