Located inside the Ca’ D’Oro, the most beautiful Gothic palace overlooking the Grand Canal, the Giorgio Franchetti Gallery gathers up sculptures, bronzes, pottery, furniture and paintings of the Tuscan, Flemish and Venetian school by Mantegna, Giorgione and Tiziano from the Fondaco dei Tedeschi.
The Ca' d'Oro Palace (1422-1440) was bought in 1895 by the Baron Giorgio Franchetti, who give it to the state government in 1916 together with all the collections inside it. The palace was then open to public in 1927, adding some state-owned works from building closed during the Napoleonic dominion, and storage of the Galleria dell'Accademia.
Among the works shown in the museum, there are important sculptures and bronzes by Tullio Lombardo, Andrea Riccio, Jacopo Bonacolosi called l'Antico, Vittore Camelio, Gerolamo Campagna, Alessandro Vittoria, Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Paintings by the Venetian school, such as the famous San Sebastiano by Andrea Mantegna, paintings by Giambono, Alvise Vivarini, Carpaccio, Francesco Botticini, canvas by Tintoretto, Tiziano, Paris Bordon, Francesco Guardi, Antonie Van Dyck, Jan Van Eyck, Adam Elsheimer, Jan Fyt, Flemish and Bruxelles tapestries of the XVI century, detached wall frescos, furniture, medal decorations and pottery from central Italy.
The annex Duodo Palace houses a collection of pottery finds discovered in Venice lagoon and the rich storages are available for scholars.

The current exhibition path goes through the Monumental Court, the Loggia on the Grand Canal, and the rooms on the second floor, where temporary thematic installations are planned.
