The Redentore is the most cherished festival for Venetians, who have been gathering and actively participating in it for over 400 years, rediscovering and appreciating their origins.
However, this festival is not only appealing to Venetians, as more and more tourists from around the world come on the third Sunday of July to witness the fireworks display.
The fireworks are the main attraction of the evening; the show illuminates all of Venice and the surrounding islands, offering emotions and a breathtaking view thanks to its exclusive setting.
The Redentore is not just fireworks and celebrations, but it is also an important religious occasion, rich in liturgical celebrations, such as the essential pilgrimage on the pontoon bridge, which was established in 1577, allowing pilgrims to reach the island.
But which are the places that offer the best view of the show?
1. From the boats
Moored in the basin, definitely the preferred spot by Venetians. Many boats filled with Venetians reach the basin on late Saturday afternoon, kicking off the celebrations with music and wine. At the conclusion of the fireworks, the boats slowly leave the basin to return to their places of origin, although many head to the Lido where various venues organize beach parties under the moonlight. Even if you don't own a boat but still wish to experience the Redentore night like real Venetians, we recommend an organized boat tour.
If you can't organize the night in a boat, the strategic areas to watch the special fireworks are:

3. "Zattere"
4. "Punta della dogana"
These three locations, however, are crowded from the early afternoon hours. People are willing to spend hours under the scorching sun just to secure the spot closest to the shore. There will be no shortage of arguments over seat arrangements, so arm yourself with patience and a lot of calm. We do not recommend staying in these areas for those who love tranquility.
5. "Giudecca"
This place is characterized by a curious custom of its inhabitants, the "giudecchini." In the days leading up to the event, they write their house number on the ground with white paint to secure a spot for the evening of the Redentore, which is useful for setting up their table. So, if you really want to see the magic fireworks for here you should be very careful about the place you choose.
