Built in 1575 by Andrea Palladio where once there was a hospital for poors, between SS. Giovanni e Paolo and S. Francesco della Vigna, this church enhanced during the 17th and 18th century with a creative façade, exquisite paintings thanks to the hospital’s benefactors.
The church was built under the project of Baldassarre Longhena, who also designed the inner altars.
In its interior, works by Jacopo Palma il Giovane and by G.B. Tiepolo. To be mentiond also the golden pipe organ enriched with sculptures and polychrome decorations.

The Complesso of Ospedaletto e the Church of Santa Maria dei Derelitti are always open by booking, however, from the 17th April to the 24th of November 2024, they will be open to the public with free access during the International Exposition of the Biennale 2024.
